UPMC Magee Vein Center is a small team focusing on patient outcomes and satisfactions with development opportunities in medical assistant and administrative assistant work. As a medical assistant you will be responsible for providing both administrative support and direct patient care to ensure efficient operation of our fast-paced vascular surgery office. You will support doctors and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, preparing exam and treatment rooms, preparing patients for examination and treatment of in office procedures including Radiofrequency ablations, sclerotherapy, wound dressing changes and measurements. Medical Assistants work daylight hours Monday through Friday. No holidays or weekends with this role! Hours are subject to change based on business needs. Responsibilities:
Send/receive patient medical records in accordance with Health Insurance. Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments and equipment according to department protocol. Check schedules and organizing patient flow. Accompany patients to exam/procedure room. Assist patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc. Perform phlebotomy, EKG's, and level one labs. Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e., OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health). Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data. Comply with all UPMC Health System policies and procedures. High school diploma or equivalent is required. Successful completion of Medical Assistant program or equivalent hospital program or minimum of one year of direct patient care experience preferred. o Recent Medical Assistant graduates/externs are welcome to apply as well! Any direct patient care experience preferred. Customer service skills preferred.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Act 34 with renewal UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
