Job Summary Provides general electrical/mechanical support to the Dickinson Frozen Foods, Inc. manufacturing facility in the areas of manufacturing equipment, maintenance and repair, and facility/utility maintenance and repair. Technician is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of industrial refrigeration systems using anhydrous ammonia as the refrigerant, including Freon. Additional responsibilities in general facility maintenance may be assigned. Future equipment installations may include high pressure steam boilers and auxiliary equipment. Duties & Responsibilities Essential Technicians are expected to perform maintenance and repairs to rotary screw compressors, condensers, evaporators, boilers, pumps, valves, fans, piping, mechanical drives, electric motors, and industrial control systems, HVAC systems, dock equipment and general facility repairs. Technicians are required to respond to and remediate releases of anhydrous ammonia. Therefore 40-hour
HAZWOPER
certification is required (training and certification is provided). Candidates must pass a HAZMAT physical to qualify for Industrial Refrigeration Position. Additional Communicate effectively with outside vendors and equipment manufacturers. Exude a positive, professional attitude at all times and communicates effectively in a team environment that includes personnel from Management, Maintenance, Production, Sanitation, etc. Maintain a proactive approach to ensure maximum efficiency and longer run-time of production line manufacturing equipment. Ensure that production line equipment is left in a functional state for subsequent shifts. Participate in the Plant Safety programs and practices. Perform non-technical assignments as requested by Maintenance management. May be asked to train Maintenance Tech Maintain good personal hygiene, follow GMP's and maintain a clean, safe and sanitary workplace. Immediately report any situation that may cause product to be contaminated or compromised. Comply with plant security by ensuring that doors are locked and closed behind you. Report any suspicious activities to your Supervisor immediately. Enter only through the main reception area or other controlled entrances using the company issued Key FOB. The FOB shall not be lent to another person. In the event a key FOB is lost, report to Supervisor and/or Human Resources immediately. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Essential Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent and 4-6 years of experience with a minimum of 3 years' experience in Industrial Refrigeration, Mechanical Maintenance, Electrical Maintenance, HVAC, Hydraulics. Must be trustworthy and have strong interpersonal skills. Must be able to use independent reasoning and judgment. Must pay great attention to detail. Must have the ability to communicate with all levels of plant personnel. Must be a problem solver and display a "can do attitude" at all times. Must be self-motivated and willing to make decisions. Must be willing to continue education and/or training. Must be able to regularly lift and move objects up to 75 pounds with heavier weight necessary at times. Standing, stooping, walking, bending and climbing. Ability to work in extreme temperatures ranging from -20 to 130 degrees. Must be able to work standing, sitting, stooping, bending or in a prone position. Must be able to work with hands overhead. Must be able to climb and work from a ladder. Infrequent travel by automobile. Must be willing to work extended hours when necessary.
