  • Position will perform advanced level skilled mechanic work at the Carthage Equipment Shop located in Moore County.
Employee will perform a range of progressively responsible tasks involving the service, rebuild, and diagnosis of a diverse number of mechanical systems for a large variety of diesel powered automotive and heavy equipment. Work assignments vary in complexity depending on the type of mechanical system. Employee will be required to furnish a complete set of mechanic tools. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies Applicants must submit an application that clearly reflects work experience that demonstrates the following: Experience in performing electrical/ electronic diagnostics and repair of complex wiring on two of the following; light, medium, heavy duty trucks and heavy equipment Experience in performing hydraulic system diagnostics, repairs, and rebuilds on a variety of equipment Experience in the diagnostics and repair of powertrain components Experience in troubleshooting complex electrical/electronic systems Experience in inventory management including parts, fuel, and lube commodities
Additional Expectations:
Employee must have comprehensive knowledge of the methods, practices, procedures, principle, and operation of internal combustion engines. An advanced knowledge of the methods of servicing, repairing, rebuilding, and diagnosing depending on the type of mechanic system. Skilled in the use of operating automotive and heavy equipment and the methods to be used in the repair. Ability to read and comprehend shop and repair manuals. May require work during nontraditional work hours including nights, weekends, and holidays and subject to emergency call back. The selected applicant will be expected to legally operate a motor vehicle and have a valid North Carolina Class A Commercial Driver's License. Either possession of a current Commercial Driver's License on the date of hire, OR the North Carolina Class A Commercial Driver's License must be obtained through completion of on-the-job training and all requirements mandated by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (Federal Registry 49 CFR 383) within 360 days of the date of hire. ALCDRG-06
must be signed allowing NCDOT to check with previous employers for the past three years about controlled substances and alcohol. Safety toe footwear required.
