- Position will perform advanced level skilled mechanic work at the Carthage Equipment Shop located in Moore County.
Additional Expectations:
Employee must have comprehensive knowledge of the methods, practices, procedures, principle, and operation of internal combustion engines. An advanced knowledge of the methods of servicing, repairing, rebuilding, and diagnosing depending on the type of mechanic system. Skilled in the use of operating automotive and heavy equipment and the methods to be used in the repair. Ability to read and comprehend shop and repair manuals. May require work during nontraditional work hours including nights, weekends, and holidays and subject to emergency call back. The selected applicant will be expected to legally operate a motor vehicle and have a valid North Carolina Class A Commercial Driver's License. Either possession of a current Commercial Driver's License on the date of hire, OR the North Carolina Class A Commercial Driver's License must be obtained through completion of on-the-job training and all requirements mandated by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (Federal Registry 49 CFR 383) within 360 days of the date of hire. Release forms ALCDRG-01 andALCDRG-06
must be signed allowing NCDOT to check with previous employers for the past three years about controlled substances and alcohol. Safety toe footwear required. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Some state job postings say you can qualify by an "equivalent combination of education and experience." High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and three (3) years of experience in the area of assignment, or a sufficient year-for-year combination of education and experience in the repair work to which assigned; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
