  • Job Summary:
  • Constructs, installs, maintains and repairs relevant structures.
Performs work in accordance with University standards and procedures forUniversity buildings and properties.
  • Responsibilities:
  • Inspects and troubleshoots building components such as walls, ceilings, floors, doors, and windows
  • Interprets schematic drawings of building components to ensure proper installation or to make necessary repairs
  • Plans assigned jobs, identifies appropriate materials, and either installs, repairs, or maintains items such as the following
  • Doors and door frames
  • Door operating devices, including lock installation, hinges, closers, limiters, coordinators, or seals
  • Window sashes and frames
  • Window operating devices, including latches, locks, hinges, or seals
  • Window treatments
  • Ceiling systems, including drywall and suspension
  • Flooring systems, hardwood, and vinyl composition tiles
  • Interior/exterior walls
  • Partition systems, stationary and movable (modular) systems
  • Moldings and paneling
  • Cabinetry and counter tops
  • Glass replacements
  • Bulletin boards, grease boards, chalk boards, projection screens, pictures, or signage
  • Furniture
  • Scaffolding and stairs
  • Requisitions materials and supplies usingin-houseprocedures as needed
  • Keeps working area safe and clean
  • Helps introduce new employees to shop protocol, procedures and campus applications and equipment
  • Uses computers to enter and access job related information
  • Undertakes training related to job duties as deemed necessary by the University
  • Wears and/or uses appropriate safety equipment
  • Maintains shop supplied power and hand tools and equipment
  • Maintains a clean shop and work site environment

  • Additional Responsibilities
  • Education, Experience, or Certifications
  • :•Education•High school diploma or general education degree (GED), from an accredited institution, required•Completion of job-related associates degree (AA), preferred.
  • Experience:
  • Four years related experience, required
  • Completion of job-related apprenticeship program, preferred
  • Advanced job-related training programs, preferred.
  • Certifications:
  • Current valid driver\'s license, required
  • Other licenses or certificates needed for this position as required by law, required.
  • Technical Knowledge or Skills:
  • Demonstrated ability to access computer programs and use or learn basic computer operations related to position requirements, required
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret documents, required
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, required
  • Demonstrated ability to perform mathematical functions relevant to the position, required
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve, required.
  • Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
  • Must demonstrate mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity and be physically capable of strenuous activity over extended periods of time
  • Must be able to lift and move loads appropriate to job requirements and be able to bend and work in a kneeling position for periods of time
  • M st be able to climb stairs and ladders, be capable of working at heights as required, be able to enter and work within tight spaces, and be able to withstand hot and cold temperatures.
  • Pay Range:
  • \$43.18 per hour.
