ICD10-PCS
on all inpatient accounts. Abstracts the required data into the Electronic Health Record. Meets required productivity and quality standards. Consistently follows the established coding workflow guidelines and processes as assigned.ACCOUNTABILITIES
•All duties listed below are essential unless noted otherwise•1. Reviews all appropriate and associated documentation to accurately assign diagnosis and procedure codes (ICD-10-CM andICD-10-PCS
) on all inpatient accounts.2. Consistently works the assigned Epic work queues according to established guidelines in order to maintain timeliness of coding, billing, and accounts receivable. This includes, but not limited to, the assigned coding work type, Waiting for Information, and Coding Priority queues.3. Utilize all electronic resources available, including Epic, 3M Coding and Reimbursement System, reference tools and accurately inputs data for daily workflow production.4. Communicates with providers, coders, and clinical documentation specialists as needed to achieve comprehensive patient record documentation.5. Establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships with all internal and external customers.6. Formulates, monitors, and responds to all compliant documentation clarification requests to query the provider for resolution of incomplete documentation, which will be issued through 3M 360.7. Adheres to ProMedica's System and Clinical Revenue Cycle department policies and procedures related to this position.8. Attend/complete all assigned training to develop relevant knowledge and skills related to their job for continued educational growth and experience.9. Attend and participate in required meetings.10. Accurately abstracts and verifies the required data into Epic and other health information systems per established standards.11. Consistently meets the quality and productivity standards for all inpatient patient types in accordance with the current productivity standards and policy.12. Demonstrates self-direction and ability to work independently.13. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.14. Follows the System confidentiality and security policies at all timesEducation:
Associate or bachelor's degree inHIT/HIM OR
High school diploma AND Certificate of Completion of AHIMA Coding Basics Program and Coding Assessment and Training Solutions Program.Skills:
Must be able to pass internal coding test. Proficient in ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS coding. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge and experience with computer system applications, including the Microsoft Office suite of applications.Years of Experience:
1-3years of inpatient coding experience.Certification:
CCS PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Associate or bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field.Skills:
Knowledge of entire revenue cycle process.Years of Experience:
3-5 years of inpatient coding experience.Certification:
RHIA, RHIT
Salary Range:
