Job Description
Position Overview:
The Accounting Specialist job involves managing both accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes, ensuring accurate and timely payments and receipts, and maintaining financial records. The ideal candidate will also analyze data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable (AP): Processing and verifying vendor invoices. Ensuring accurate and timely payments to vendors. Reconciling accounts payable ledgers. Maintaining records of expenditures. Responding to vendor inquiries. Ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. Accounts Receivable (AR): Tracking and analyzing patient and provider accounts receivable balances. Preparing and sending invoices to vendors. Processing incoming payments. Reconciling AR general ledger accounts. Following up with vendors regarding past-due payments. Applying payments to general ledger accounts. Generating AR aging reports and metrics. Identifying and resolving discrepancies in billings and collections.General Accounting Support:
Maintaining accurate financial records. Reconciling general ledger accounts. Assisting with monthly and annual closings. Assisting with bank reconciliations. Generating reports and analyzing data. Identifying trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement. Using accounting software to record and process transactions.Required Skills & Qualifications:
Education:
A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related business management field is preferred.Experience:
A high school diploma plus some post-secondary courses in accounting. 1-3 years of experience in accounts payable/receivable or a general accounting position preferred.Technical Skills:
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage Intacct), Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Outlook.Analytical Skills:
Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and develop solutions.Communication Skills:
Strong written and verbal communication skills.Organizational Skills:
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.Problem-Solving Skills:
Ability to identify and resolve issues related to AP/AR processes.Interpersonal Skills:
Ability to interact effectively with vendors and customers.Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Ability to occasionally lift up to 15 pounds.Compensation & Benefits:
