This posting is for a Vehicle/Equipment Repair Supervisor I (VERS I) in the Wayne Equipment Shop. In this position you will supervise vehicle/equipment repair technicians, mechanics, helpers, and other semi-skilled trades personnel that perform small engine, automotive, and heavy equipment in Wayne County. In this position you will be responsible for determining the type and extent of repair work to be completed and scheduling vehicles/equipment for service/repair. Your work also includes establishing general time limits for maintenance or repair work; making repair assignments; and determining the extent of any additional repair work to be done. Inspect work upon completion to determine that necessary repairs have been made, and that vehicles and/or equipment are in proper operating condition; prepare work reports on maintenance/repair work done. Your work is performed in accordance with established practices and departmental procedures and policies and evaluated through operational efficiency and effectiveness. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies Applicants must submit an application that clearly reflects work experience that demonstrates the following: Experience using SAP to create, manage, and close repair orders Experience in inventory management and SAP processes for parts, fuel, and lube commodities Experience in safety policies and procedures as they apply to shop functions including a basic knowledge of OSHA requirements. Observes and assesses work, provides feedback; establishes a culture of safety for employees and ensures that work processes are free from safety and health hazards, and the employees are properly trained. Class A CDL required with N endorsement. Safety toe footwear is required. Necessary Special Qualifications May require current certification by the EPA as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by 40 CFR part 82, subpart F.
