JOB SUMMARY
The Accounts Payable Clerk provides financial, administrative and clerical support by ensuring payments are completed and expenses are controlled by receiving payments, processing, verifying and reconciling invoices according to established policies and procedures in an efficient, timely and accurate manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Reconciles processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances. Charges expenses to accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoice/expense reports; recording entries. Pays vendors by monitoring discount opportunities; verifying federal id numbers; scheduling and preparing checks; resolving purchase order, contract, invoice, or payment discrepancies and documentation; insuring credit is received for outstanding memos; issuing stop-payments or purchase order amendments. Pays employees by receiving and verifying expense reports; preparing checks. Maintains accounting ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions. Verifies vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions. Maintains historical records by filing documents. Disburses petty cash by recording entry; verifying documentation. Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential. Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed. Other duties as assigned. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCES
High School Diploma or GED; Associates Degree or equivalent from a two year college or technical school preferred 1-3 years accounts payables
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of general accounting principles, regulatory standards and compliance requirements General math skills Proficiency in MS Office, including the ability to operate computerized accounting and spreadsheet programs

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is usually exposed to a noise level that is low to moderate. This is full-time position. Days and hours of work are normally Monday through Friday, 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
