Job Overview:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will provide individualized care to patients and their families in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures. This role involves working with a variety of patient populations, including infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics, depending on the clinic. The LPN will provide observation, monitoring, and intervention as necessary to ensure the best care outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
Assist patients to exam rooms and obtain vital signs while ensuring rooms are prepared for exams. Assist providers with exams, procedures, and treatments as needed. Perform diagnostic tests such as EKGs, nebulizer treatments, peak flows, O2 saturations, vision/hearing screenings, tympanograms, general lab work, and radiology when indicated. Administer injections and other medications as prescribed by the provider. Schedule patients for referrals, exams, procedures, and treatments as required. Prepare patient rooms by cleaning and stocking them with necessary supplies and equipment. Notify patients of test and procedure results, per provider direction. Screen patient phone calls, gather relevant information, and provide follow-up as directed by the provider.
Team Collaboration:
Work alongside providers and other clinical staff to ensure seamless patient care. Accept additional duties as assigned to support organizational goals. Demonstrate proficiency in skills outlined in the LPN scope of practice. Maintain and improve skill proficiency, including upgrading new skills as necessary.
Compliance:
Adhere to legal, regulatory, accrediting, and procedural requirements relevant to your role. Follow the Corporate Code of Conduct and protect patient and team member privacy. Report violations or concerns to the supervisor or Corporate Compliance Officer using established communication channels.

Leadership Structure:
This position reports directly to the Clinic Supervisor.
Provider Interaction:
There is a potential for rooming as needed. The Cancer Center providers are very collaborative and involved in patient care. The clinic culture is positive and team-oriented.
Typical Day:
Expect a busy workday, with 130-180 patient appointments daily. LPNs will primarily work in the lab setting, handling tasks such as accessing ports/PICCs for blood draws, venipuncture, injections, chemo pump disconnects, rooming functions, EKGs, and using EPIC treatment plans.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required. Graduate from an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing or Vocational School required.
Experience:
Previous clinic experience required. EPIC experience preferred. Competent in vascular access of implanted ports for lab draws and venipuncture. Knowledge of documentation and notification of panic values, rain rating, and abnormal lab values to the provider/PNC nurse. Competency in infection control policies and procedures, including care of MRSA, VRE, and contact precaution patients.
Licensure and Certification Requirements:
Current licensure as an LPN or LVN in the state of Minnesota (State Requirement). Current BLS Certification (AHA Standard) required. Interested in chatting about your next role?
