TPAC is a nonprofit performing arts organization providing arts experiences for all ages, seeking to be the catalyst for performing arts experiences by facilitating and delivering excellent local, national, and international programming for diverse audiences. The Stagehand Technician will supervise and manage the installation and operations of complex theatrical equipment including static and dynamic rigging systems, theatrical lighting systems, professional audio systems, digital media presentation equipment, high voltage power distribution equipment and theatrical special effects.
ESSENTIAL TASKS
Provide technical support and creative support for community partners. Inspects all equipment to ensure safe theatrical practices are followed. Develop and execute maintenance procedures for theatrical systems. Maintain and repair all theatrical equipment in advance to community partners and facility rental. Develop technical documents for distribution and archival storage. Plan and oversee large-scale facility projects, including equipment upgrades, facility alterations and technological advancements within a specified budget. Ensure safety practices and procedures are adhered to by all entities on stage and in the facility. Periodically attend health and safety training seminars. Works closely with the supervisor and renting productions to plan logistics for upcoming large-scale events. Serve as technical representative for community partners operating within the facility.Qualifications:
Training and Experience :
Graduation from high school or GED and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in technical theater production; or an equivalent combination of training and experience per Personnel Policies and Procedures, Section 128.Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills :
Considerable knowledge in lighting design and electricity, stage setting design and construction and sound reproduction and reinforcement; considerable knowledge of the repair and maintenance of complex lighting, audio and staging equipment; and good knowledge of occupational hazards of the theater and appropriate precautionary measures. Ability to learn new and varied technical stage systems; ability to train others in the performance of staging functions; ability to work long and irregular hours; ability to understand and influence the behavior of others within the organization, customers, or the public in order to achieve job objectives and cause action or understanding; and the ability to maintain a high degree of attention in order to prevent injury to self and others. Good knowledge of digital media integration with theatrical applications. Ability to develop and understand CAD drawings and sight plans. Must be skilled in the use of tools and equipment used in the theater.Physical Requirements :
Physical requirements include frequent standing and walking; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 60 pounds; frequent reaching, balancing, kneeling, bending, crawling, handling, feeling, climbing, smelling and twisting; vision and speech must be highly refined to assure appropriate quality of lighting and sound; hearing sufficient to perform essential tasks.
