The Generator Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of industrial and commercial generators. This role requires a thorough understanding of electrical and mechanical systems and the ability to diagnose and fix issues to ensure the reliable operation of generators.Key Responsibilities:
- Install and set up new generator systems according to manufacturer specifications and company standards.
- Perform initial testing and adjustments to ensure proper operation.
- Conduct regular preventative maintenance on generators, including oil changes, filter replacements, and inspections of electrical and mechanical components.
- Keep detailed records of maintenance activities and generator performance.
- Diagnose and repair generator issues, including electrical, mechanical, and fuel system problems.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and software to identify issues and perform repairs.
- Perform load tests and other performance tests to ensure generators are operating efficiently and effectively.
- Inspect generators and related equipment for signs of wear, damage, or potential failure.
- Maintain accurate records of all installations, maintenance, and repairs performed.
- Report any major issues or concerns to the Maintenance Supervisor or Engineering Manager.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to generator installation and maintenance.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in electrical or mechanical engineering .
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working with generators, including installation, maintenance, and repair.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
- Proficient in using diagnostic tools and software.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
