Job Description
LAB SPECIALIST
(ELECTRONICCOMPONENTS
) The EEE (electronic, electrical, and electro-mechanical/electro-optical) Parts Reliability team at SpaceX is a multidisciplinary group dedicated to ensuring the reliability of flight components, including integrated circuits, discrete semiconductors, and passive hardware. As a lab specialist on the EEE Parts Reliability team, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining equipment and machinery in our state-of-the-art EEE failure analysis laboratory. You will collaborate closely with EEE part reliability engineers and hardware engineering teams to perform root cause failure analysis of EEE components; develop and execute custom test profiles for accelerated testing; and destructively evaluate EEE piece part workmanship and quality, while upholding the highest standards of lab safety and cleanliness. The ideal candidate excels at managing lab operations and optimizing workflows to meet quick-turn deadlines of critical-path projects; is adept at operating failure analysis lab equipment and machinery; prepares high-quality, high-fidelity data reports; and collaborates well with peer and customer teams of varying backgrounds and levels of experience.RESPONSIBILITIES
Operate and maintain failure analysis and destructive physical analysis (DPA) lab equipment, including scheduling preventative maintenance, calibrations, and repairs Assist with root cause failure analysis of EEE components and solder joints Perform DPA quality workmanship checks on EEE components Perform component-level accelerated testing on EEE parts, including custom test profile development, and design and fabrication of test fixtures and test set-ups Manage failure analysis and DPA lab test schedules and throughput Adhere to lab safety procedures and promptly escalate health or safety concerns Ensure chemicals are safely and properly stored Maintain lab cleanliness and organization; manage lab consumables Coordinate DPA at third-party labs when necessary; manage customer quality expectations and DPA statement of work with third-party lab personnel Comprehensively document results of root cause failure analysis, DPA, or accelerated testing in a report; be prepared to communicate results to engineering stakeholders, leadership, EEE manufacturers, government customers, etc.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalency certificate 3+ years of experience working in a hands-on position 1+ years of experience performing electronics testing, electronics inspection, and/or troubleshootingPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Associate degree or higher in engineering, physics, chemistry, or similar field Experience with root cause failure analysis of EEE components and failure analysis techniques Ability to operate failure analysis and DPA equipment, such as X-ray, CSAM, CT scan, SEM/EDS, bond pull, bond shear, cross-section and polish, decapsulation, and electrical fault isolation Experience with test operations procedures including AEC-Q industry standards, JEDEC industry standards, and safe handling of flight parts Ability to install and use test instrumentation sensors, including: strain gauges, deflection gauges, pressure transducers, load cells, thermocouples, RTDs, accelerometers, and analog circuitry Ability to fabricate and repair cable harnesses including: soldering, crimping, assembling connectors Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and ability to navigate and manipulate files Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment Ability to solve complex problems with minimal supervision on tight schedulesADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Pay Range:
Level 1: $30.00- $38.00/hour Level 2: $34.00
