POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

Manufacturing Technician -
Laser Diodes Overview :
The Manufacturing Technician will be responsible assembly (die bonding, wire bonding, cap welding), tracking & reporting on BluGlass proprietary next generation GaN based UV/VIS laser-technology for use in the Industrial, Display, AR/VR, Automotive, General lighting and Biotech markets. Candidates must have experience with die bonding and wire bonding equipment for Laser Diodes or similar semiconductor devices.
Objective:
Perform daily manufacturing tasks for Laser Diode Assembly of next generation GaN Diode Lasers. The candidate will be working on prototypes that will eventually become production laser systems. Candidate will be handling issues varying from helping develop the production environment to perfecting it and eventually being able to add capacity, speed, cost effectiveness to the model. BluGlass works under Rapid Development, so candidates must be prepared to operate at that level, which means short on time and staying within budgets set.
Principal areas/functions:
Manufacturing & Assembly of Laser Diodes:
§ Perform key tasks of Wire Bonding & Die Bonding Laser Diodes into Chip-on-Submount, TO-Header or Other LD Packages using manual or semi-automated equipment. § Maintain quality and quantity with a strong sense of accountability and standards. § Complete all relevant documentation while maintaining product traceability throughout the process. § Clean & maintain equipment & work area. § Ensure preventative maintenance tasks are on schedule. § Utilize work instructions. § Ensure accurate measurement and recording of process data. § Strong hands-on mechanical abilities/aptitude required. § Must be flexible, able to perform multiple tasks, and prioritize. § Must be able to work well with others and coordinate with team efforts. § Able to follow all safety procedures and rules. § Track and correct failures in products going through NPI process. § Assist in establishing product or customer quality and reliability specifications. § Complete all relevant documentation while maintaining product traceability throughout the process. § Actively participate in Continuous Improvement efforts and 5S Initiatives to help maintain a clean, safe and efficient work environment. § Perform various tasks and all other duties as required/assigned by Department Supervisor.
Background/Skills & Qualifications :

  • 3-5 years' Manufacturing Technician experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast paced, highly dynamic "start-up" environment.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Must be able to carry out written, oral, or diagram form instructions.
Good communication skills (both oral and written) are required . Ability to work in a diverse team environment. Good interpersonal, teaming and communication skills. Good dexterity, minimum of one-year experience in basic assembly tasks. Ability to work under a microscope and utilize hand tools such as tweezers and other similar tools.

Position is to be based out of the BluGlass, Inc a Laser Diode Manufacturing, Test & Reliability facility located in Nashua, NH. Aspects of this position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22C.F.R. §120.15 are required.
