CREATIVE GOODS MERCHANDISE LLC
Junior Designer - New York City
THE OPPORTUNITY
Creative Goods is a dynamic full-service merchandising company based in NYC with a bold vision for the entertainment space. Our experienced team of industry professionals works to establish partnerships that are built on trust, allowing us to better serve our clients through clear communication, a streamlined workflow, and creative product that captures the imagination.
THE ROLE
Creative Goods is seeking a full-time Junior Designer/Production Artist to support the Art Department in day-to-day production design operations. This person should be comfortable working in a collaborative creative environment, translating fresh and innovative ideas into visually compelling merchandise designs. A strong technical understanding of preparing files for production is paramount, as is a sharp attention to detail. This person should be able to manage multiple design projects from concept to completion, maintaining brand consistency and managing proper deadlines. This position reports to the agency's Art Director and is based in our NYC theatre district office, with the opportunity for a hybrid work-from-home schedule.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Projects you may be responsible for include, but are not limited to: Creative concepting and design Flat product mocks (T-shirts, hats, totes, mugs, etc) Stylized/lifestyle product mocks Souvenir book design & layout Photo retouching Product decks Production print file setup (files specified for size and color for production) Program Book inserts (InDesign typeset documents)
A TYPICAL DAY
Your day starts off by checking in on your list of assigned projects on Monday.com. This morning, you're finishing up some new designs for a product line that you've been working on for a new musical coming to Broadway this Spring. Once all your designs are placed in a deck for your boss to review, you dive into a new project preparing print files for a product line that was just approved by the client. While you're in the middle of doing that, the production team messages a question about a particular color spec for a design that's currently on press, so you grab your Pantone book and go chat with the account manager about which the client would prefer. Once you finish your production files, you have to mockup a few quick water bottle designs that a client has requested as a gift. Before heading out for the day, you review some t-shirt samples with the team—you notice that the graphic sizing is bit too big in one design so you make a note to fix that file in the morning.
REQUIREMENTS
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign). Understanding of vector art, color profiles, DPI, and basic design principles. Working understanding of print and production requirements. Ability to prioritize and juggle multiple projects simultaneously. Product design / production background is a plus, but not required. Basic knowledge of Monday.com (or similar project management platform) is a plus, but not required. This role requires precise attention to detail and organization, stellar communication skills, and a positive attitude.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The entry-level gross salary for this role is $75,000 annually—it is an exempt position and not eligible for overtime. As a full-time employee of Creative Goods Merchandise, LLC, this position is eligible to participate in the Company's comprehensive benefits program following a 90-day waiting period for new enrollees. This program includes medical, dental, and vision care, core life, accidental death and dismemberment, and disability coverage. After a year of service in any position, full-time employees are eligible to enroll in the 401(k)-retirement account. Benefits are subject to the changes Creative Goods may make from time to time to its benefits programs.
