Job Description

Corporate Stainless Steel Tube Mill Technician Evapco 1900 West Almond Avenue, Madera, CA 93637 Corporate Stainless Steel Tube Mill Technician The individual in this position will serve as a global, hands-on technical resource for all aspects of SST tube production to ensure safety, quality, and productivity objectives are achieved. Responsibilities will include assisting with the development and implementation of standardized operating and maintenance procedures, installing and commissioning new equipment, training personnel, and troubleshooting mills and associated equipment when problems arise. Major areas of responsibility Align, level, and position Evapco machinery during fabrication and field installation using precision levels, straight edges, piano wires, and level transits. Assist with start-up and commissioning of SST tube mills. Observe, assess, and make recommendations for SST mill improvements. Become an expert in the setup and operation of all tooling and ancillary equipment, including unwinders, accumulators, weld boxes, annealing equipment, printing systems, rotary cutoff, and runout tables. Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. Monitor tube mill downtime and efficiency. Work with mill operators to determine recurring problems causing downtime, scrap or production inefficiencies. Report these problems and assist in resolving them. Assess the quality of Evapco-produced tubing by performing burst and tensile tests as well as preparing etch, polish, and micrography specimens. Accurately measure and inspect tooling, parts, and tubing to .001" using, but not limited to, the following tools: Vernier calipers (dial, digital, and micrometer), dial indicators, micrometers, bore gauges, and depth gauges. Problem solve and contribute ideas to improve purchased and Evapco fabricated equipment. Execute project completion schedules to meet timeline requirements. Any other duties assigned by the Supervisor and/or Manufacturing Engineering staff. Job Requirements High School diploma or GED equivalent 5 or more years of equipment and fabrication experience in areas of tube production, TIG welding, and/or machinery maintenance. Strong shop math skills (i.e., add/subtract/divide/multiply, whole numbers and fractions) Ability to use/read precision measuring devices Mechanically inclined with experience in troubleshooting and diagnostics. Read and understand electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics. Experience with tube mills preferred (operation, setup or maintenance). TIG welding experience preferred Neatness, attention to detail, and exceptional workmanship Proficient understanding of common hand tools, power tools, precision measuring devices, and welding equipment. Must be able to operate forklifts and become a licensed Evapco operator, and maintain certification annually. Must be able to operate hoists safely and maintain certification. Good communication skills, both written and verbal Ability and eagerness to learn Be a self-starter that can work without supervision and have good time keeping record. Must have a flexible work schedule and be able to make schedule changes as required. Be willing to take in-house or outside training as required. Must have or be able to obtain a valid US passport. The position will require periodic travel and occasional multi-week assignments at Evapco facilities both domestically and internationally. Candidates must demonstrate cultural awareness, respect, and rapport with local facility personnel. A test will be administered to all candidates to assess skills and knowledge in relation to job requirements.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
Most work will be on the shop floor but there are some clerical duties. Constant standing, bending, twisting, kneeling. Carrying heavy parts up to 50 pounds Climb ladders. Agility to access machinery in tight places. We offer competitive compensation based on experience. The pay range is $30.01-36.81 per hour.
