Summary:
Provides police protection and enforcement of state and local laws, hospital policies, procedures, rules and regulations.Minimum Qualifications:
1.Formal Education Required:
a. High School Diploma or equivalent. 2.Experience & Training Required:
a. Successful completion of the Ohio Peace Officer Basic Training Academy (OPOTA). b. Must be eligible to hold and maintain a police commission in the State of Ohio in accordance withORC 4973.
c. Must be 21 years of age or over at time of hire. d. Must have valid Ohio Driver's License and meet Summa Fleet Insurance Standards. e. Must maintain active and current certifications in firearms to department and OPOTA standard. f. Must maintain active and current Conducted Electrical Weapon certification to department standards g. Honorable discharge from military service can be substituted for related work experience. h. Completion of coursework in higher education in a related field can be substituted for some or all required work experience. 3.Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
a. Ability to perform functions requiring running, walking, physical restraint of others. b. Exposure to inclement weather. c. Ability to communicate effectively with visitors, staff, patients and other law enforcement representatives. d. Maintain proficiency with firearms and self-defense techniques. e. Must handle incidents in a confidential manner, displaying compassion. f. Required to carry firearm within the scope of their duties. g. Obtains the provided training and certification and required to carry a Conducted Electrical Weapon with the scope of their duties. h.Population Specific Competency:
Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity. i. Obtains the provided training and certification for NVCI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention) training within the first six months of hire and annually thereafter. 4.Level of Physical Demands:
a.Heavy:
Exerts 50-100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or ten to 20 pounds of force continuously to move objects.
