Main Responsibilities Assist Journeyman Carpenters with construction and remodeling projects. Help build structures from wood and other materials. Learn and practice essential carpentry skills on the job. Maintain a safe work environment. Set up and maintain tools for your supervising carpenter. Attend courses on carpentry to attain the necessary technical skills as outlined in the Field Performance Skills Matrix. Required Experience, Traits & Skills High school diploma or GED certificate. Good math skills & mechanically minded. Familiarity with common power and hand tools. Experience in construction, preferably high end residential. Open to instruction, willingness to learn. Good interpersonal and communication skills, great attitude. Physical Requirements & Work Environment Physical strength and stamina, ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50lbs. Manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination, ability to handle, feel, lift, operate, and move objects, tools, or controls. Strong reading and math skills. Excellent vision and depth perception. Ability to work in a construction environment. Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, bend, dig, go up and down stairs and ladders, crouch, crawl, and lay down. Exposure to heat and/or cold, and inclement weather. Exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
