Job Summary As a Technician Journey Level Engines, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of marine engines through comprehensive inspections, diagnostic tests, and overhauls.
Your role will involve:
Conducting Inspections and Diagnostics:
Assessing unit conditions, identifying deficiencies, and performing necessary repairs.
Engine Overhauls and Repairs:
Completing overhauls and other repairs identified during diagnostics.
Performance Verification:
Conducting sea trials and making adjustments to ensure peak performance.
Cost Management:
Utilizing warranties and evaluating service and parts options to manage costs effectively.
Record Maintenance:
Keeping accurate documentation of all services and repairs performed on engines and vessels.
Customer Communication:
Interacting professionally with customers on-site, addressing their concerns and providing updates.
Safety and Organization:
Maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
Training and Guidance:
Providing support and training to apprentice marine technicians.
Documentation:
Completing work logs promptly with all relevant information. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, a commitment to safety, and the ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members. Compensation:
$30 to $41 per hour based on experience
Travel:
Up to 25% travel required

Laptop/PC Usage:
Strong computer skills.

Mechanical Diagnostic Skills:

Manual and Instruction Comprehension:
Able to read and understand service and repair manuals, operating instructions, and work orders.
Timely Repair Execution:
Skilled at performing repairs efficiently.
Electrical Multi-Meter Proficiency:
Fluent in using electrical multi-meters.
Diesel Engine Electronic Controls Knowledge:
Thorough understanding of electronic controls for diesel engines.
Communication Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate with technical support, sales, and management.
Team and Independent Work:
Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
Educational Background:
High School Diploma or equivalent; technical schooling is a plus.
Experience:
Over 5 years of experience; experience with marine large bore diesel engines is a plus.
MTU Experience:
Strong experience with MTU engines
