Job Summary The Senior City Deputy Marshal plans, directs, supervises, manages, and reviews the daily operations of the City Detention Center, Warrant Enforcement Team, and the Environmental Crimes Unit. Enforces laws of the State of Texas, Federal, and City of Dallas ordinances. Job Description Overview The Senior City Deputy Marshal plans, directs, supervises, manages, and reviews the daily operations of the City Detention Center, Warrant Enforcement Team, and the Environmental Crimes Unit. Enforces laws of the State of Texas, Federal, and City of Dallas ordinances. Essential Functions 1 Supervises and directs the daily activities of commissioned deputy city marshals, warrant confirmation, or inebriate detention center to ensure warrants of arrests, subpoenas, and other legal processes of municipal courts are served and executed effectively and efficiently and prisoners are processed according to guidelines; supervises environmental enforcement team and other units working within the City. 2 Supervises including hiring, performance evaluation, overtime scheduling, disciplinary actions, training, and other personnel actions to ensure productivity and quality standards are maintained. 3 Directs and participates in prisoner transfer to ensure transfers are successfully accomplished. 4 Coordinates the public service operations to ensure the accuracy and validity of information used to make an arrest or serve subpoena for hearings; checks and evaluates background checks, citations, and other legal documents. 5 Conducts in-depth investigation to locate multiple offenders; supervises and oversees the City Detention Center housing offenders and ensure the safety and security of all prisoners and staff members. 6 Makes duty assignments, evaluates the work of subordinates and assists staff in order to effectively execute arrest warrants or booking of prisoners to ensure compliance with standing policies and procedures for the division. 7 Demonstrates proper work method and safety procedures to ensure work is performed in a proper and safe manner; conducts audits and produces reports regarding compliance. 8 Prepares administrative reports for departmental use and to assist supervisor in responding to concerns and complaints about law enforcement efforts; oversees the Professional Standards Section, investigates internal and external complaints and produces investigation reports to the City Marshal 9 Performs as field training officer in order to ensure proper procedures used in the execution of warrants, prisoner transfers, and crime investigations; supervises and directs the warrant enforcement unit, assigns daily work, conducts warrant searches, and performs all actions of a Texas Peace Officer. 10 Performs any and all other work as needed or assigned. Knowledge and Skills 1 Thorough knowledge of principles and practices governing warrant service work. 2 Thorough knowledge of arrest procedures. 3 Ability to supervise and instruct others. 4 Ability to use good judgment, discretion, tact and to act quickly in an emergency. 5 Ability to write complete and accurate reports. 6 Establishing and Maintaining effective working relationships. 7 Ability to meet, talk, and deal effectively with the public and numerous law enforcement agencies including Dallas Police Department and Sheriff's Office. 8 Communicating effectively verbally and in writing. 9 Ability to qualify twice annually with a firearm. Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION
High school diploma or
GED. EXPERIENCE
Three (3) years of experience as a full-time, paid Peace Officer (Basic or higher) certified by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE)
EQUIVALENCY
An associate degree or higher in a criminal justice, public/business administration or social science field plus two (2) years of the required experience will meet the education and experience requirements. LICENSES and/or 
CERTIFICATIONS
Valid driver's license with good driving record. Current Basic (or higher) Peace Officer Certification from
TCOLE OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Subject to extensive background check including polygraph, psychological and drug screening. No FELONY or class A misdemeanor convictions No class B misdemeanor convictions within the last 10 years. No drug or domestic violence related convictions. Availability to work varying shifts (days, evenings, nights) including weekends and holidays.
PREFERENCES
Current Intermediate (or higher) Peace Officer Certification from TCOLE. Salary Range $32.09 - $40.11 The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.
