Certification Brake repair Mechanic experience Maintenance Mid-level CDL High school diploma or GED Driver's License Vehicle maintenance Diagnostic testing Trade school 1 year Air brake Hydraulics Full Job Description Emergency Vehicle Technician The Emergency Vehicle Technician is responsible for preforming preventative maintenance and mechanical repair work related to specialized fire/ems vehicles, and heavy fire apparatus.
Position Qualifications:
Candidates must meet all of the following minimum qualifications in order to be considered for the position:
Minimum Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years of age 1 years of heavy truck experience Must possess a valid drivers license Must be able to pass a criminal background check Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol screen Working knowledge of vehicle mechanics Minimum of 50 lbs lifting ability Preferred requirements: High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) Attended a trade school focusing on diesel repair Minimum of 2 years experience with emergency apparatus Commercial Drivers License Class B or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire Automotive Services Excellence (ASE) Certifications- T series Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) Certifications Strong Electrical background Strong Fabrication background Ability to travel for training Ability to complete mobile repairs
Responsibilities:
Perform vehicle, apparatus, small gas, diesel, and electrical equipment repair Perform annual testing and maintenance include work in the following areas: hydraulic and air brakes; ABS; gas and diesel engines; advanced electrical and on-board computers; fuel delivery; hydraulics; transmissions; air systems; exhaust, axles and suspensions; fire pumps; foam systems and aerial apparatus Interpret work orders to identify the nature of reported problem and determines the exact nature and cause Preform inspections and certification of equipment in accordance with State, Federal and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards Test drive apparatus for diagnosis after repairs Keeps daily electronic log of time, materials and labor for record keeping and billing purposes Travel for road repairs around the state Other tasks assigned
