Also, the Police Department will be offering the opportunity to participate in Mock Interviews after the written examination. This is not mandatory, but would be a great opportunity to practice your interviewing skills. They may be scheduled the week of June 2, 2025. More details to follow.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION FINAL PROCEDURES
Applicants who meet all the minimum eligibility requirements and who pass the written examination and POWER test will have their names placed in the Police Recruit Eligibility Pool, in alphabetical order and will be eligible for hire until the pool expires. Candidates who are being considered for hire will also be requiredto participate in a combined interview with department and the Fire and Police Commission. After the oral interview score, the candidate may have added to the composite score five (5) points if they have established residence in the City of Peoria. This is a rank ordered list of candidates to be hired as positions become available. When this list is exhausted, interviews will be conducted again by the department and the Fire and Police Commission, and another hire eligibility list will be made. When the applicants are given an offer of employment, they will then be required to pass the POWER Test, polygraph examination, psychological evaluation, a medical examination including a drug screen and an extensive background investigation. The offer of employment is conditional upon passing all of the required testingand will be withdrawn if you fail a test. Once you are in the pool, you can submit, if applicable, a copy of your college diploma and/or transcripts and any other certificates, letters, etc., you want to submit to show your qualifications. Also, send in a photocopy of your DD214 Form•If you are a veteran or are currently serving in the U.S. Military. If you are a current Officer, send in your Law Enforcement training certificate.
