Role:

As a Telecommunicator, you will handle incoming routine and emergency calls, dispatch personnel and equipment, and maintain crucial contact with law enforcement, emergency medical services, and fire and rescue units. You'll operate a variety of advanced communication equipment and provide essential pre-arrival instructions to callers. Your role is pivotal in managing emergencies and ensuring that every call is handled with precision and care.

Key Responsibilities:

Handle Calls :

Receive and manage routine and emergency calls, dispatching the necessary personnel and equipment.

Operate Equipment :

Use a range of electronic equipment, including computer-aided dispatch systems, radio equipment, and mapping tools.

Assist and Instruct :

Provide pre-arrival medical instructions and support based on established protocols.

Maintain Records :

Keep detailed logs and reports of communications and actions taken.

Monitor Alarms :

Oversee public and private alarm systems, activating appropriate responses.

Qualifications:

Knowledge and Skills :

Proficiency in radio and telecommunications systems, strong understanding of emergency protocols, and ability to handle high-pressure situations calmly.

Experience :

High school diploma required; prior experience in communications or emergency services is preferred. Bilingual skills (Spanish) are a plus.

Certifications :

Ability to obtain required certifications including CPR, EMD, and Telecommunicator certification.

Physical Requirements:

Capable of performing basic operational functions such as lifting, reaching, and typing. Must be able to handle light physical exertion and maintain visual acuity for computer work.
