$33.46 to $41.10 2nd

$25.52 to $31.36 ## Position Summary Under the direction of the Electric Distribution Superintendent, and Line Foreman, the position is involved in the installation, maintenance, and repair of underground and overhead electric distribution and service lines, transformers, meters, metering equipment, and related equipment. Operating a variety of equipment including but not limited to digger truck, bucket truck, backhoe, skid steer, etc. will be necessary. Lastly, the position will assist other City operations and perform other duties as required. Responsibilities Construct, maintain, and repair the electrical distribution and transmission system Installs high-voltage connectors, transformers, and switches Secures cables and various service lines. Sets electric poles Installs and performs maintenance on meters and metering devices Responsible for rerouting switches when necessary Operates switches and related electrical equipment Maintains and repairs substation equipment Operates power driven machinery, such as hydraulic compression pumps, chain saws, etc. Uses common hand tools to construct and maintain overhead and underground power lines Operates boom and bucket trucks which require a valid Class B, CDL. Perform outage restoration and service quality checks when required Communicate with internal and external stakeholders regarding electrical issues On call to respond to emergencies Performs other duties as required Qualifications Skills and Qualifications The applicant must have a high school diploma. Applicants with a degree in electrical power and distribution strongly preferred. Must possess working knowledge of the construction and maintenance of overhead and underground electric distribution lines and substation maintenance. Must possess knowledge to include the installation of meters, transformers, voltage regulators, capacitors, etc. Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions. Must be comfortable working and climbing at different elevations on ladders, poles, etc. Must know how to use tools and equipment safely on energized and de-energized line. Must be proficient in pole-top and bucket rescue procedures. Must be able operate a computer and other technical tools. Must have excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills. Must be mechanically inclined. Must be able to read and understand mechanical plans and prints. Applicant must maintain a valid drivers license and be able to obtain a Class B, CDL. The City will provide training and education needed to obtain appropriate licensing. This is heavy work requiring the exertion of 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Applicant must obtain a Level 4 Phy ical Capacity Profile at time of hire. Finalists must possess a valid drivers license with acceptable driving history. Post-Offer Employment Testing (POET), including but not limited, to drug screening, criminal background check and a Physical Capacity Profile will be required.
