Full Job Description Location:
Boise, Idaho and Houston, Texas Position Summary:
Railroad Equipment Operator is responsible for driving, operating, and maintaining heavy equipment such as Excavators, Backhoes and Skid Steers. Work includes driving a welding truck (CDL preferred) to and from work locations and setting the welding truck on the track.
Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Follow all Railroad policies and procedures related to transportation and equipment operation.
  • Operate Equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Load and unload materials using appropriate equipment.
  • Conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of tasks while adhering to safety standards.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures related to transportation and equipment operation.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of employees and customers.
  • Must be able to travel 75-90% of the time with Per Diem
  • Must have a valid driver's license as well as CDL (preferred) within 90 days.
  • Ability to pass drug screening and background check.
High School Diploma/GED required.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Works both indoors and outdoors.
  • Travels to field locations
  • Frequently performs physical activities that require considerable use of the arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as standing, lifting, walking, stooping, bending, reaching, and handling of materials, equipment, and tools.
  • Uses hands and fingers to operate equipment and tools.
  • Lifts, pushes, pulls, and carries heavy objects, machinery, and tools up to 50 pounds.
  • Works around vehicles and machinery with moving parts.
  • Exposed to exhaust fumes, gasoline, and diesel fuel.
  • May be exposed to harsh weather conditions.
  • May be exposed to loud noise.
