DESCRIPTION
This is a brief description; it is not comprehensive.
Initial Focus:
The Master Plumber will start at Energy Resource Center's (ERC) headquarters in Colorado Springs to establish the structure and processes for in-house water heater installations. Once the Colorado Springs office is operating efficiently, the plumber will assist in developing installation operations at ERC's other locations. In the future, ERC may develop plans to do more in-house general plumbing installations, repairs and replacements including but not limited to toilets, faucets, sump pumps, and water leak repairs. It is expected that the master plumber will also assist in developing these operations as needed by Energy Resource Center as this will help reduce costs and leverage in-house staff expertise.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide training and mentorship to technicians, focusing on developing their skills in water heater installation and other plumbing repairs and replacements as needed by the organization. Prioritize utilizing in-house HVAC staff for water heater installations. If additional help is needed, assist in hiring apprentices or journeyman plumbers. Also, consider enrolling existing in-house field technicians into an apprentice program to support the installation work. Work alongside the HVAC department to schedule water heater installations on the same day furnaces are being installed whenever possible to speed up project time. Manage the scheduling and coordination of installation projects and electrical subcontractors, ensuring timely completion. Obtain and manage all necessary permits for water heater installations, and other general plumbing work as necessary. Collaborate with other departments and provide support as needed during periods of low workload in installations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma and hold a valid Master Plumber license issued by the relevant state or local authority. Additional certifications (e.g. backflow prevention, gas piping) may be required. Experience working with Federal and State funded energy conservation programs. Must pass a pre-employment drug screening. Candidates will be subject to a criminal background check and motor vehicle report. (See job-specific qualifications below): Experience - Typically requires 8-10 years of combined experience as an apprentice, journeyman, and master plumber with proven expertise in residential, commercial, or industrial plumbing systems. Technical Knowledge - Strong understanding of plumbing codes, blueprints, and schematics, as well as proficiency in installing, repairing, and maintaining piping, fixtures, and water systems.

WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Essential duties are required to perform this position efficiently: Duties include office-based tasks like managing schedules, budgets, and team communication, as well as on-site work requiring prolonged standing, walking, and maneuvering in tight or elevated spaces (e.g., rooftops, attics, crawl spaces). Responsibilities also involve Ability to lift 50+ lbs., work in confined spaces or elevated locations, and comply with OSHA and local safety regulations and exposure to extreme temperatures and loud machinery.
