Job Summary:
An Experienced Service Technician, fixes, inspects, and maintains cars, trucks, SUVs and other vehicles. Main duties include using tools to identify and diagnose potential issues with a customer's vehicle, explain problems with the vehicle to the customer and perform maintenance on the vehicles to fix or prevent them from future breakdowns or issues.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Perform routine maintenance and other tasks in a fast-paced environment. Repair brake and steering systems. Diagnose and repair electrical and electronic systems. Replace or repair transmissions and fuel components as needed. Repair cooling components and systems including air conditioners and engine cooling. Perform emissions inspections, safety checks and similar state-regulated vehicle examinations. Produce legible and accurate paperwork reflecting work performed. Must read, interpret, and transcribe data in order to maintain accurate records. Maintain inventory and order supplies as needed. Maintain a clean, safe working environment. Initializing/resetting personal settings to factory settings. Performing multipoint inspections, communicate additional service/repair needs, and proper documentation. Inspect fluid levels in steering gears, power steering reservoirs, transmissions, differentials, rear axle housings and shackles. Checking tire pressure, adding water to radiators, and replacing oil and air filters. Lubricating moving parts with specified lubricants. Communicate with Advisors and Sales Managers. Test driving the vehicles to make sure they are fit to sell. Attention to detail when inspecting vehicles. Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Understanding of automotive systems. Ability to use the diagnostic equipment and tools including power tools. Willingness to learn with hands-on training. Ability to maintain a professional appearance. Ability to provide friendly customer service.
Education and Experience:
Automotive and engine repair experience or auto mechanic training preferred. Working knowledge of state inspection guidelines, particularly those concerning emissions and safety, is advantageous. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. ASE certifications required.
Physical Requirements:
May lift objects that weigh as much as 50 lbs. Good hand-eye coordination. Prolonged periods of standing. Frequent reaching, bending, squatting, pulling and lifting.
