City of Berkeley Police Department Position:
Police Officer SUMMARY The City of Berkeley is looking for an individual with a high level of professional ethics, integrity, and proven leadership skills, to serve as a Police Officer. The ideal candidate should be team oriented, possess exceptional leadership, a vision to reduce crime and be commitment to community. Strong communication skills are essential for interactions with department employees, city leaders, and the community. Police Officers are responsible for enforcing and upholding the laws and ordinances of our City, the State of Missouri and the United States.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Preservation of order and the public peace. Protection of rights of citizens and property. Prevention of crime and apprehension of violators. Assurance of impartial enforcement of applicable state laws and ordinances. Enforcing laws Ensuring safety and security of the public by responding to emergencies, providing assistance to victims, and reducing or preventing involvement in crime Building relationships with the community while helping to contribute to the health and safety of vulnerable populations. Creating community awareness by using crime prevention methods or interventions initiatives Conducting investigations by interviewing suspects, witnesses, and collecting evidence at crime scenes Participating in testifying at court hearings when required Processing incident reports with accurate detail and factual information's

$65,000 plus 15 Holidays paid holidays

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES
Thorough knowledge of controlling laws and ordinances. Considerable knowledge of modern police practices and methods, including the use and care of firearms. Ability to obtain and maintain minimum proficiency in the use of firearms. Good communication and interpersonal relations skills. Open to working various shifts such as evenings, weekends, and holidays Ability to stay calm in stressful or high-risk situations Ability to deescalate situations Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Capability and desire to work in a collaborative manner Developed analysis skills for research and investigating
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by the completion of P.O.S.T. approved curriculum and a valid driver's license.
