Job Summary:
Responsible for providing primary support to the Trauma Program Manager for data collection, abstraction and coding to ensure compliance with all rules and regulations for data capture and data entry for the Trauma Registry.
Licensure and Certification:
Certified Specialist in Trauma Registers (CSTR) preferred
Education:
High School Diploma or GED equivalency Basic to Intermediate ICD-10 Coding Course Medical Terminology Class Trauma Registrar Course - completion within one year of hire Association of the Advancement of Automotive Medicine's Injury Scaling Course - completion within one year of hire
Experience:
At least 2 years experience in Medical Records, Nursing or a related field with strong medical terminology skills. Experience in Pre-hospital/Trauma Registry preferred
Knowledge and Skills :
Strong verbal and written communication skills Strong organizational skills Critical thinking skills Problem solving skills Basic knowledge of medical terminology and ICD-10 coding Basic computer skills with knowledge of Word processing and Excel software use Knowledge of purchasing selections for equipment needs of department Physical Demands -
Clerical/Administrative Non-Patient Care:
Frequent sitting and standing/walking with frequent position change. Continuous use of bilateral upper extremities in fine motor activities requiring fingering, grasping, and forward reaching between waist and chest level. Occasional/intermittent reaching at or above shoulder level. Occasional/intermittent bending, squatting, kneeling, pushing/pulling, twisting, and climbing. Occasional/intermittent lifting and carrying objects/equipment weighing up to 25 pounds. Continuous use of near vision, hearing and verbal communication skills in handling telephone calls, interacting with customers and co-workers and performing job duties. Key for Physical Demands Continuous 66 to 100% of the time Frequent 33 to 65% of the time Occasional 0 to 32% of the time
