Position:
Payroll and Accounts Payable Specialist The Payroll and Accounts Payable Specialist will process weekly payroll, maintain employee time records, and support accounts payable activities.
Duties Include:
Payroll Administers processing of organization's payroll and collects payroll data to maintain accurate payroll records. Enters, maintains, and/or processes information in the payroll system; information may include employees' hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, and other information. Resolve payroll discrepancies and answer employee payroll questions. Ensure proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, charitable contributions, and other deductions. Processes employee benefit contributions in an accurate and timely manner. Reconciles payroll to the general ledger and monthly bank statements. Issues, or reissues, physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge. Prepare and distribute payroll reports on a consistent basis. Accounts Payable Sets up new vendors for processing. Prepare vendor disbursements and electronic deposits. Processes wire and/or ACH transfers and maintains accurate backup documents. Creates and keys accounts payable and journal entries according to accounting policies. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills:
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Two (2) years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping with at least one (1) year of experience in payroll required. Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to work in a team environment and independently. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Data entry skills with a high degree of accuracy. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll software; prior use of Dominion iSolved payroll software preferred. Strong attention to detail, ability to organize and prioritize. Must be able to pass pre-employment criminal background and drug screening process.
Language Skills:
Must be able to express self adequately in written and oral English communication and to communicate effectively with customers, employees, and vendors.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to fifteen (15) pounds at times. Able to reach, carry, finger, grasp and feel objects related to duties.
