Description Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Refrigeration Service Technician specializing in rack refrigeration systems commonly used in grocery stores. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing commercial refrigeration systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity. This position requires a high level of technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and customer service as the technician will work directly with clients to keep their refrigeration systems functioning efficiently. We are centrally located in Indianapolis, Indiana, with satellite offices throughout the Midwest down to the southeastern United States.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation & Maintenance:
Install, inspect, and maintain commercial refrigeration systems, including rack refrigeration units and controls commonly found in grocery stores.
Troubleshooting & Repair:
Diagnose malfunctions and execute repairs on refrigeration equipment, addressing issues such as temperature discrepancies, refrigerant leaks, and electrical faults.
Routine Servicing:
Perform preventive maintenance tasks on refrigeration systems, including cleaning, testing, and replacing worn components to prevent breakdowns and maintain energy efficiency.
System Optimization:
Make adjustments to enhance system efficiency, reliability, and compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of service calls, repairs, parts used, and refrigerant usage as required by company policy and environmental regulations.
Customer Interaction:
Provide excellent customer service, clearly communicating with clients about repairs, maintenance schedules, and cost-effective solutions.
Safety Compliance:
Adhere to safety protocols, using protective equipment and following industry best practices to ensure safety for self and clients.
Emergency Repairs:
Be available for on-call emergency service to address urgent repairs as needed.
Experience Requirements:
Familiarity with CO2 systems. Familiarity with DX systems. Experience with refrigerant conversions, condenser replacements, compressor changes, rack parts replacements, troubleshooting skills, case coil repairs, and cooler/freezer coil repairs. Proficiency in controls such as RDM, CPC, Novar, KE2's, and Sporlan. Customer experience with clients such as Kroger, Walmart, HEB, Target, etc., is preferred.
Job Requirements:
Availability to travel out of town from Sunday through Friday as needed. Flexibility to work nights or days as required for system startups.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical training or certification in HVAC/R preferred. Minimum of 3 years of experience with commercial refrigeration, specifically rack refrigeration systems.
Licensing & Certification:
EPA certification required; state licensing as per local requirements.
Technical Skills:
Proficient in reading and interpreting technical diagrams, schematics, and manuals. Knowledge of electrical, electronic, and refrigeration systems. Ability to use diagnostic tools and repair equipment.
Problem Solving:
Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify and repair complex issues in refrigeration systems.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, work in various environmental conditions, and be comfortable working at heights if required.
Additional Requirements:
Background Check & Drug Screening:
Must successfully pass a background check and drug screening as part of the hiring process.
Driver's License:
Must hold a valid driver's license with a clean and insurable driving record.

$40.00 - $48.00 per hour
