Position Type Staff Department Energy Management Position Summary InformationJob Summary/Basic Function About This Role:
Responsibilities include servicing, troubleshooting, and repairingmercial industrial air handlers, fan coil units, VAV boxes, recirculation pumps, residential package units, gas-fired boilers, ice machines, and other associated equipment. Candidate will also be expected to troubleshoot and maintainmercial chillers,pressors, and other associated central plant equipment. Employees represent both the department and the university and are expected to maintain a clean, neat and professional appearance while on duty. The candidate will routinely work with other crafts, be required to monitor contracted work and provide training to subordinate employees. This position is considered essential, and employees may occasionally be required to work when University offices are closed due to emergency situations or other events. The candidate will work under the direct supervision of the HVAC Supervisor in Facilities Management. What You'll Do -Position Responsibilities:
Performs assigned repairs, emergency and preventive maintenance. Completes maintenance and repair records as required. Implements a preventive maintenance program to ensure that building machinery and systems meet or exceed their rated life. Reviews assigned work orders. Estimates time and materials needed toplete repair. Maintains inventory of adequate supplies and tools, orders necessary materials toplete all tasks. Completes all required safety, vehicle and other required job-specific training as directed.Key Competencies:
The successful candidate shall be knowledgeable in repairing and servicing HVAC and associated equipment. Knowledgeable in electrical and plumbing, necessary to adequately diagnose/repair HVAC related equipment is expected. The applicant should have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and email applications. Employees are expected to lead by example, demonstrating the highest level of ethics. They are expected to work together to meet the needs of the department and university, by providing exemplary customer service to the staff, faculty and students.Physical Requirements:
Tasks require the regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work. Somebination of climbing and balancing, to include climbing ladders, stooping, kneeling, crawling, working at heights and working in confined spaces. May involve the lifting of moderately heavy objects, up to 45 pounds. Requires a full range of physical motion to operate manual/electrically powered tools.Job Conditions:

Associate degree orpletion of a formal technical training program with certification within the field of HVAC or related field is required. A valid Texas driver's license is required. At least three-years of proven experience in the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning or related field is required.
