As our new Accounting Specialist , you will play a vital role in maintaining the financial health of our organization. Your expertise will ensure that invoices are processed accurately and timely, while also supporting our branches with customer payment inquiries. Johnstone is growing, and so can you!
A day in the life:
Vendor Relations:
Perform vendor payment reconciliation and build strong partnerships to facilitate smooth transactions.
Problem Solving:
Investigate and resolve issues associated with processing invoices and purchase orders.
Invoice Management:
Prepare invoices and credits for payment by verifying accuracy and contacting vendors or stores for necessary information.
Payment Processing:
Assist with payment runs via check, wire, or ACH according to company procedures.
Audit Support:
Gather documentation and assist with audits, ensuring compliance with company policies.
Customer Support:
Handle incoming calls from our branches to run payments or authorize customer credit.
Continuous Improvement:
Collaborate with management to identify and implement process improvements.
Hybrid Work Environment:
This position will be required to have some in-person training and collaboration at our Lake Orian and/or Taylor office as well as remote work from home. Our Accounting Team performs some month-end close and Quarter End Close on 1 Saturday per month. What we're looking for:
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or GED; at least one year of related experience or training with both
A/P & A/R
is preferred.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook) and strong numerical skills.
Detail-Oriented:
A keen eye for accuracy in documentation and the ability to maintain organized work processes.
Communication Skills:
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to listen and communicate professionally.
Team Player:
Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment while also working independently.
Adaptability:
Capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently and remaining calm under pressure.
